MotoGP race suits are primarily crafted from kangaroo leather, which is more flexible, resilient, and lightweight than traditional cowhide. The suits also feature elastic fabric and Kevlar reinforcements. While cowhide is the most commonly used leather in motorcycle racing suits due to its durability and excellent protection for riders on and off the track, kangaroo leather is more popular for MotoGP suits. Alpinestars also manufactures racing suits with cowhide leather. Before the introduction of fireproof racing suits, there were no mandatory driving uniforms in most racing series.
Nowadays, there is a short list of raw materials used for racing suits available online, but here we will only discuss the important and necessary materials that make up a racing suit: cowhide, kangaroo skin, and 26% vegan fabrics. Since the 1980s, racing suits have been customized to showcase the sponsors of drivers and teams, resulting in designs similar to those of racing cars.
